Valencian artist based in Manchester, Ima Picó brings her ongoing research in geometric abstraction to an unusual and resonant space: the historic red telephone box.
In this intimate, vertical format, Ima presents an installation that condenses her visual language into refined forms, rhythmic structures, and compositions that play with repetition, colour, and transparency.
While her work retains the dynamism of previous projects—often marked by urban saturation and an aesthetic of excess—her current practice shifts toward a more restrained approach, focused on formal balance and the interplay between surface, volume, and space. The telephone box becomes a device for abstract contemplation, a resonant container where geometry breathes and asserts itself with quiet force.
In dialogue with the architecture of the site itself, Ima creates pieces that transform these urban capsules into sculptural objects—a small vitrine of visual order in the middle of the Scottish landscape.
